I know I shouldn't but I can't help feeling a little smug this morning. Traffic reports on breakfast radio are generally pretty laid-back but this morning they were red hot with news of mayhem on the Monash as truck crashes create traffic chaos.

Yep, the Monash Tollway (or South-Eastern Linear Carpark as it is affectionately known) was closed in both directions because

three truck accidents, including a fire truck on its way to the first two crashes, is causing peak-hour traffic chaos…

Fortunately if appears that no-one was seriously injured. But CityLink has hours of cleaning up to do and all those car-bound commuters had to find another route. Of course, some drivers were going crazy (I nearly go run down by an idiot going the wrong way down a one-way service lane) and the TV helicopters were buzzing overhead trying to catch images of the "carnage" (as, no doubt, it will be somewhat sensationally headlined on the evening news).

Meanwhile over on the Gardiners Creek and Yarra Trails, traffic chugged along as usual. You don't hear much about bike pile-ups causing traffic snarls, do you?
